Ted Alexandro

Ted Alexandro was born and raised in Bellerose, NY, the second of five children. An artistic brood, the Alexandros performed community theater together almost every summer of Ted’s teenage years.

In 1992 Ted graduated with a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education from Queens College (“The Harvard of the CUNY system”; their words.) He started his comedy career as part of the duo “James & Ted” with his good friend, Hollis James, whom he met at Queens College.

In 1994 Ted began performing standup comedy as a solo act. For the next five years Ted taught elementary school music in NYC’s public school system by day and performed at open mics by night. Finally he left teaching to dedicate himself fully to writing and standup. This decision was supported by most, although Ted’s paternal grandmother did say “Well, at least you have your degree. You can always go back to teaching.”

Ted has performed on David Letterman, Conan O’Brien, Jimmy Kimmel, Craig Ferguson, The View and two half-hour specials on Comedy Central.

Ted has performed internationally in Jordan, Egypt, Kuwait, Hong Kong, South Korea, Singapore, Jakarta, England, Holland, Israel and Qatar.

Ted has appeared on the television shows “Oz”, “Dr. Katz” and “Louie”.

Ted continues to collaborate with Hollis James on such videos as “Kiss Our American Ass” and “Nobody’s Dummy”, which can be found on Ted’s YouTube channel. Ted and Hollis are currently creating the webseries “Teacher’s Lounge”, which will be coming out in the summer of 2011.
