Less Is Moor
I consider myself racially sensitive. Perhaps to a fault, at times.
My friend Randolph- who is black, and his wife, Amy- who is white, just had a baby girl. Randolph was telling me about how his wife's grandmother saw the baby for the first time and said "Oh, she looks like a moor."
I was shocked. I said "Wow, a moor? That is rude. I don't think I've even heard that expression since 'Othello'."
Randolph looked at me, confused. "No, Moore... with an 'e'. My wife's last name is Moore."
I have not laughed that hard in a long while. Maybe I need to dial down the racial sensitivity just a bit.
